PBPK Conference Basel 2026

21 - 24 April

·

Basel, Switzerland

The First International PBPK Conference brought together, for the very first time, a global community of researchers, clinicians, regulators, and industry scientists united by a single science: Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic modelling. Held at the iconic Frank O. Gehry building on the Novartis Campus in Basel, this inaugural event marked a turning point for the PBPK field — giving it, at last, its own dedicated international forum.

Over four days, more than 50 speakers from leading institutions across academia, industry, and regulatory agencies — including the FDA, EMA, and MHRA — shared their latest findings, debated open questions, and forged new collaborations. From drug-drug interactions to special populations, from biologics to innovative computational approaches, the programme reflected the full scientific breadth and ambition of the PBPK community. This was not just a conference. It was a statement: PBPK science has come of age.

Why this conference mattered

For years, PBPK scientists convened as a small track within broader pharmacology or drug development conferences — never quite having the space to go deep, to debate freely, or to build the kind of community that the science deserved. The First International PBPK Conference changed that.

By creating a dedicated, independent forum, the International PBPK Nexus gave the field something it had long needed: a place where PBPK is not a sub-topic but the entire conversation. Where a PhD candidate from São Paulo and a Senior Director from AstraZeneca can sit in the same room, challenge the same assumptions, and leave with new collaborators. Where regulators and industry scientists can debate openly — not as adversaries, but as partners in advancing the science.

The success of this first edition confirmed what many in the community already believed: the PBPK field is ready for its own international home. And that home is now being built — one conference at a time.
